Does anyone out there know of a workaround to getting RedHat 7.1 to connect to Comcast @Home cable modem service? It has connected perfectly fine with 7.0, 6.2, etc. but with identical settings I cannot get 7.1 to connect.Any usable info would be greatly appreciated asap. Thanks in advance! :D

YOur friendly neighborhood *pump* should solve your woes. From a normal user window, start an xterm session. Then SU to root (of course you have the root password, don't you?). Then run

pump -i eth0 (usually the NIC connected to your cable modem).

If you don't get "Operation failed.", you're halfway home! Then do

pump -s

A truckload of information on your connection should spew out.

Then, in the same terminal session type

cat /etc/resolv.conf

This writes a new resolv.conf based on what pump saw (and replaces any pre-existing resolv.conf while it's at it).

Not so quick, but *very* painless.

I really hope this works, I can't get @home to work either.

operation failed

I do have a Mandrake system right beside me that is running perfectly with @Home. If I could just find out the config files that effects the connection, I could probably get mine up.

Sorry but none of that has worked. :( This has to be a problem specific to RH7.1. I'll kep digging and I hope some info will come in soon. Thanks.

if you get it to work, make sure and post how!

I just got it working. I don't know if it was the static IP address that I put in, or that I add "-h hostname" to the correct line in the pump line of the ifup script. But try both
