I've tried some but I can't find icq-like program that let me send and receive files. Do you use any that let you do it???
I like look of Gaim but that doesn't let me deal with files.

Licq. It is a bit flaky when connecting ICQ2002 users but is getting better. If you compile your own software get the "development" version. It is very stable, I use the latest builds all the time.

I have tried licq but my friend, who is using icq on windows, couldn't send files. I tried sim yesterday and while i could send a file i couldn't receive files. *sigh* maybe i'm not doing right... but dunno.

The CVS version of Gaim has support for files.

GAIM supports file transfers on the old TOC protocol, although it might not be willing to initiate them (i.e. the remote user must request file by name).

so i started installing new CVS version of Gaim... dependency problem. I have gtk2.0 installed but need gtk2.2. Then to install gtk2.2 i need several others. while installing most of them went ok, i got problem installing pango, which is needed for gtk2.2. when installing pango, i got error that i need fontconfig, so i found fontconfig and tried to install. then i got following error message while "make":
cc -g -02 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DFONTCONFIG_PATH=\"\etc/font\" -I.. -I. -o fc-list fc-list.o -L../src -lfontconfig
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [fc-list] Error 1
i have no idea what lfontconfig so i went google and typed "lfontconfig" hoping to find download for it. Then I found only messages ppl are saying that they all are having same problem with lfontconfig while installing fontconfig for pango.
I dunno what i should.... :(
