mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/news.html) is a decent player.

I usually just run Windows Media Player under wine to play asf files.

I found this page (http://www.vcdhelper.com/convert.htm) with this search string (http://www.google.com/search?q=convert+.asf+to+mpeg) on google (http://www.google.com). Other than that, no idea.

try searching yourself. http://www.google.com/linux http://freshmeat.net/

i would suggest searching for "asf" plus "convert" or "play" depending on what you want.
