I am patiently waiting for Mandrake 9.0 to be shipped to me and in the interim picked up a book from a friend which has discs for RH 7.0. This release of course predates WinXP (which is my current OS:( ).
Does anyone know if I can do a relatively "easy" install in this case?

Probably would really depend on your hardware.

Basically I have an HP off the shelf 7935 w/Athlon 1.3, 128 Ram, 40 MB HD, and CD-RW. My assumption is I have a Lucent Win Modem but of course SP no longer allows you to access a lot of system detail unless you want to do what I have already done and resorted to complete system restores. I'm really not trying to be an ignorant PITA here, I've been quite comfortable with various DOS systems, Win 3.1, 98 but XP is totally nearly totally inaccessible.
I maintain a small forex trading website and can't risk "screwing" up badly which XP has done to me several times now.
I'm somewhat desparate to escape as you might guess by the tone of my posts.
Thanks for all your help.

RH 7.0 may be a bit too old for the 'HP off the shelf 7935 w/Athlon 1.3, 128 Ram, 40 MB HD, and CD-RW' and Mandrake may be a bit too 'new' (at least for the amount of memory) for the same hardware.
Of the two, I would think Mandrake 9.0 would be the better choice.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've been procrastianting about bumping to 256 or 512 so that will be what I do in the next week.
Appreciate it much! :)
