Ok, I'm running Slack 7.1 and I just got my DSL today. I would like to get it working on my linux box. Has anyone set up their linux box for DSL and if so, what kind of problems am I going to be facing? This is new to me in this general area.

i use dsl from mindspring. it is pppoe (ppp over ethernet). i run the phone line to a ppp to ethernet "modem" and then run ethernet to my gateway. no problems to speak of - it was easier than dialup for me. use roaring penguin to connect over dsl on a linux system....at least i *think* roaring penguin is still better than linux native pppoe.

if you don't get pppoe (your provider can tell you) then i think you'll have to get a dsl modem...i don't know how good linux support there is since i've never checked.
