More X

OK, I have now installed X on my system, and finally got through the config. But when I startx the background is grey-patterned. There is a white box that covers half of the screen, with some text in. And that's all. The mouse seem to be a X. But it almost can't be moved. Anyway, I can do nothing. If I move the mouse very fast the box is changing size. No press on the keyboard seems to be accepted.

sounds like you are at the login screen, also sounds like the vid res. is messed up....try retweaking the res. using xfree86

Yeah, I thought it might be something like that. But everything is messed up. I'll try your advice
