I am using RedHat 7.1 / Windows 2000 dual boot. When I shut down from within RedHat, it hung so I powered the computer off and back on. Now when I boot into RedHat, it shows the command line login, immediately loads the GUI login (as it should) except the screen goes blank completely. I assume that this is a problem with X's configuration. If so, how do I boot and prevent it from loading the GUI so that I can reconfigure it. And, how would I reconfigure it? Thanks in advance.

Change the console you are in when you boot. When the gui boots up asking for a password press Alt+Ctrl+F1 and log in as root.

Most likely the screen is being displayed in a resolution your monitor can't handle. Run Xconfigurator to reset the display settings.

Well, I was unable to use Alt-Ctrl-F1 to get to a command line (the gui doesn't come up and ask for a pw... that's the problem). I was able to use Linuxconf to get into a command line and fun xf86config. I reconfigured my video card and then restarted. Same problem. When it goes to load X, the screen goes blank and nothing happens. Any other ideas? Please help. Thanks.
