I recently downloaded the mdk 9.0 iso's and burned them using Nero. I then proceeded to install 9.0 on my system and it booted into the install GUI just fine. I then selected my lanquage [English], and then clicked next. However, the program froze right at that point. I let it sit for about 30 minutes to see if the system would resolve itself. Just to check I tried the install on my roommates computer and it proceeded without a hitch. I can't figure out why this happens. I have tried the install about 10 times. Always the same result.

I've had this problem with Windows. Check your bios settings for a boot sector virus protection. If you have one and it's enabled it will block an install at just about that point. I've also had a Win install fail because it didn't like 2 sticks of 128mb (the max per slot in that 440LX mobo). Went back to one stick and the install went ahead. Put the second stick back in after the OS install, and it ran okay, even with the memory settings advanced to CAS2 (PC133 in a PII at 66Mhz bus).

By the way, did Nero report any errors after it burned the discs?

Thanks DanceMan. Nero reported no errors. I also disabled the virus protection thing and the instalation went ahead until I started installing packages. Then many files with the *.i586 ending had errors while installing. If it helps you figure out my problem I am running:
AMD Duron 750MHz
MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU Motherboard
1 - 40 GB Maxtor 7200 RPM HD (Win XP)
1 - 8 GB Samsung 7200RPM HD (Linux - MDK 8.0)
Sound Blaster Live 5.1 MP3+
Innovision Geforce 2 MX 32MB
384 MB DDR RAM (1-256MB 1-128MB)
8 USB Ports (4-USB1.1 4-USB2.0)
I need to get Mandrake 9.0 installed because it supports NTFS and USB2.0. I could set these up the long way, but since MDK has the support I wanted to try that first.
