Just wanted to say if you are tired of Netscape's crappy fonts and slowness then try out the new opera. It rocks!!! Haven't tried Netscape 6 nor do I want to after using Opera. I like it better than IE. It's that good I think.

Opeera is OK but it will take a while before you start seeing it's shortcomings. I used it for about 3 mo...

So what are the perceived shortcomings of Opera? I'd like to know so I don't have to wait the couple of months.

Just one...of the less irritating ones is the way it handles fonts. Another is that I remember that it didn't display some links AT ALL that both IE and NS displayed perfectly. In other cases text links that were displayed OK in IE/NS were displayed EXTREMELY SMALL in Opera...like almost unreadable.
That is just the beginning. At the outset I liked it pretty well.

Well, I've been using it for about a week now and haven't notice any of the things you speak of. Sounds like you were using an older version. Also, it's a pretty small download so just try it. I think it was only about 1.5MB.

I just downloaded and installed Opera4 beta4 and I think its faster than any other browser I've used yet..(except links of course ). I like it, I just don't like the fact that it's a trial version. They want money. Really nice browser, fast as HELL but I'm not sure if Im gonna pay $30 or whatever they want for it.
They've done a great job with it, IMHO! http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

They just released version 5 (for Windows) that is free. You have to watch some adds at the top (actually, they don't bother me at all - hardly even they're there). Hopefully, they'll release the same for Linux. I'll tell ya, I like it much better than Netscape (4.76 and 6.0).

I downloaded opera4b4 and gave me a seg fault when I tried to run it.

I also get the segemtation fault on my work machine. I only get them after entering proxy information. (4.0b3)
I would like to know how to fix this.
I run it on my laptop (4.0b3) and it works great.
Of course, I don't need proxy settings for the laptop.
I do find some sites that are optimized for IE don't display quite right.

They are coming out with the version for with ads for linux.
I tried the first beta and it really sucked bigtime.
I guess I should give this new one a shot.
