Hello,

I just installed KDE 2.0 on Debian Potato using http://kde.tdyc.com in my Sources.list. Everything seems to work great except Konqueror. It mostly works, but I'm having a couple of problems:

1. I can't get it to recognize my Netscape Plugins (i.e. Flash, Shockwave, etc.)

2. I can't use SSL anyware.

3. Java 'may' not be working. I'm not sure how to test it.

I've read up a bit, and it looks like OpenSSL & NS Plug-IN support may not be compiled into the binaries I downloaded. Does anyone know where I can find binaries that include this support? If not, can anyone help me understand what's involved with compiling this support in?

Otherwise, I love KDE, but I REALLY want to get Konqueror working!

Thanks
John

For SSL you'll need to install openssl and then recompile kdelib. For Nescape Plugin you can use Kcontrol Center to detect Nescape Plugin by click at "Scan" in Nescape Plugin section that is locate under Web Browsing section. Did you enable JAVA support on Kcontrol Center yet? If not go to Web Browsing Section and click at Konqueror Browser, you should see Java/Java Script tab on the right-top side. Make sure you've both "Enable Java globally" and "Enable Java Script globally" selected.

Good luck http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks for your help. I've scanned for Netscape plugins in the control center, and it found them all. Unfortunately, they still don't work in Konqueror. Java & Javascript seem to be working now. I could also use some help in understanding what I need to do to recompile kdelibs with OpenSSL support. I've already installed OpenSSL, but I'm not sure what to do next.

I really appreciate everyone's help.

Thanks
John
