Hi all, i am a very very linux newbie and Iīm having a lot of problems trying to install nvidia kernel & glx on mandrake 9.0.
I tried installing the source rpm, but i received some errors, also tried the tar but didnīt work either.
Finally I installed NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-3123.mdk82up.i586.rpm
and seemed to go, the installed glx and modified the XF86Config-4 to load nvidia driver, but X crashed at start (canīt load NVIDIA driver)...
Iīm totally lost now, someone can lend me a hand or point me to a web where installation process is explained?
Thanks for reading the post and I hope i can keep on with linux (it really rocks ;) ).

One of our members (bwkaz) wrote the following how-to for the nvidia drivers.

It is posted in the 'How I Did It' forum.

Dolphin... that's Mandrake, right?

I think the problem is that you need to add alias /dev/nvidia* NVdriver to your /etc/modules.conf file, run depmod -a (both as root), and try again.
