When I try to install Redhat 7.1 I get the following error:
VFS:Cannot open root device"" or 08:41
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
kernel panic:VFS: unable to mount root fs on 08:41
Let me tell you a little about my system configuration. I have added an ata100 controller. in the installation instructions it suggested connecting the CDRom drives to the onboard controller and not the ata100 controller.
As a result the linux install sees 2 CD-rom drives as hda and hdb and my first hard drive as hde. I think that is my problem, linux is looking for the first hard drive to be hda.
Question: is there any way to force linux to install on hde1? If so how?
Help Please,
Thanks
