I just switched over to the lastest release of Debian (2.2r2) from slackware in my continuing quest to find the distro that fits my needs. I'm finding this is really the way to learn things about Linux, especially the capabilities of the OS. And, this leads me to my problem. With Slack, when I booted into Linux with lilo, the screen resolution would change to 1024x768. How do I go about making this setting? I've looked at some options for lilo, like setting vga=ask, and choosing one of the listed options at boot, but none of them are half as clean as changing the resolution. So, any suggestions?
Cheers!

This has been asked before but I've forgotten the answer.
Try searching... In fact, always search before posting.

I have, and I always do search before posting. I ran a search for "console resolution" (minus the quote) and all the results dealt with changing the resolution for X by dropping to the console. So, no help there. Any suggestions anyone

I posted this one once. Couldn't get it figured out - there is a program in debian that supposedly can do it, but I don't know how to use it. Do an apt-cache search on svga, it'll turn up. Or you can use grub. Grub allows vfb resolution settings in the console. Give it a shot.

I asked this before and got an answer on how to do it, I just searched for the post and couldnt find it so I suppose its been deleted. Its something to do with the lilo.conf file and you need framebuffer support in your kernel.
I'll post what my lilo.conf looks like when I get in linux.
