I just installed KDE and I love it, but Konqueror's fonts are so blocky and hard to read, and it was not like this all the time, but I don't remember what I did to change it. Does anyone know how to change this? I went to konqueror.org (http://konqueror.org) and noticed that it's not something that just happens so I know it can be changed. Help please, I want to use Konqueror, especially since it's faster, and renders better than Mozilla, but I won't if I can't read the text.

Sorry this is a bit vague, but I'm at work away from either Linux box. Have you tried changing the font settings? Under one of the dropdowns from the Konqueror menu bar there is an option that lets you choose which fonts to use and their sizes. Explore a bit and you should find it.

Sorry, I did go into the font setting for Konqueror and changed the settings for iso8859 and that didn't seem to work, so...

Do I change it in the control panel? I know that in the control panel that their is a section for font control, but I don't know if this affects Konqueror.

I had the exact same problem on a fresh Debian install today (Potato).

What most likely is happening is that your X is trying to use 100dpi fonts and you don't have them installed.

To fix this, you can install 100dpi fonts (which will make Konquerer have horribly large fonts.)

You can also edit /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc and change the 100 to 75 if you have 75dpi fonts installed.

Actually, 100dpi fonts are installed and the fonts are still blocky, but for some reason, I don't have a /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc file. Could you show me yours?

err... I'm using Woody on this box, not Potato. Using X 4.02.

The xserverrc file looks like this:

beast:/home/eddie# cat /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc
exec X -dpi 75 -nolisten tcp
