I have two image discs given to me by a friend. these are burned discs. the files are named,
7.0-i386-respin-disc1.iso.
7.0-i386-respin-disc2.iso.
I was told that I could boot to the first CD. My comp is only 7 months old and I think it will boot from CD drive D:. it checks at restart after A: and it usesimage discs to reload C:.
I know I sound stupid about this stuff, but I'm kinda new to computers so maybe I am.
My problem is it wont boot from CD, and when I use a boot image diskette (from red hat download site) it tells me it cant find images. So I'm assuming they are burned wrong. I can download new copies, but wonder what I need to do to make sure they are burned right. The red hat site says to check the burner software for how-to. But I have easyCD creator 4 and it doesnt tell me how to burn an iso image. I have a fast cable connection (750+ down, and 500+ up) so downloading new files would be fairly quick.
I just dont want to do it unless I know what to do with them. So any imput would be really nice.
C-ya Jimbo.

In Easy CD Creator you need to choose the "create new disc from image" option or whatever it's called. You are presented with a fileselector looking for files with some weird extension (forgot which, sorry) but you can move the "files of type" selector to match .iso and then load the image. After that just press the record button and you're in business.

But if you can read files on the discs from Windows then your images are almost certainly working OK.

To boot from CD, you need to go into the BIOS at bootup (look for the message "Press <something> to enter setup) and then search for "boot order" somewhere in the menus. Make sure CD is listed as a valid boot device and that it appears before your primary hard drive in the list.
