Is Progeny pure Debian. Can I istall software off my Debian disks onto a Progeny system? Has anyone tried Progeny? if so what are your thoughts?

Progeny is based on Woody which is unstable right now. The bigger question is where is www.progeny.com?? (http://www.progeny.com) It seems to be missing at this time!!

Won't traceroute or ping either. I can ping and traceroute www.debian.org (http://www.debian.org) with no problem?? Try ping www.progeny.com (http://www.progeny.com) and see if you get the server??

I am currently downloading from their site. I just visited it to make sure that it is there and it is.

Thanks must be my area. I ssh to my work computer and can not ping or traceroute from there either. Bummer :o

OK fine...What does that mean to me? Why does the "Duke of URL" review not mention this? How unstable is "not stable"?

If I install Progeny, will I be able to install software from Debian disks?

Are you sure its not a Cache issue your facing. Is your work PC and home PC using the same DNS server. Maybe try switching DNS servers and see if that helps.

Mike</STRONG>Progeny is pretty much Debian with a easier install process. And yes, you can use Debian packages for Progeny but I wouldn't recomend it. Progeny has more mature packages than the recent release of Debian, therefore you may run into some problems.
