What is the significance of the term "visual" as applied to languages. (Visual C++, Visual Fox Pro, Visual Basic, etc.)

Visual * is not a language. Its MS' development environment and compiler. Visual C++ is a C++ compiler, and Visual Basic is a MS language that is slow and cumbersome.

but there is another point!!

when MS thinks, they should spell out some new product they use this VISUAL phenomenon without even thinking of any analagy between nonVisual and Visual products. Take an example, compare Basic and Visual Basic
