I have a Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS that I run Mandrake 7.1 on. The only problem with this setup is lack of resources...an instance of Kmail and KFM killed it last night...don't even ask how quickly Netscape kills it. I am wondering what Window managers have the same features as KDE but use less memory and if there is app out there that can load & run a Java Applet across a network. Also, is there any modern browsers out there that use less memory...I was thinking about Opera. Will a bigger swap help?

Thanks,

Change your swap to something more like 128MB! With that little RAM you need the extra swap space! That's one reason you are running out of RAM, another is what the heck are you running besides KDE?

Issue ps -ax and post using the tags, let's see if we can find some **** to kill....

Let's see, Kmail, and KFM killed it. I have linmodem...that may take up some memory. Will make the swap like in the 128 range tonight. (At school now...boy does Win2000 suck)
