No, I'm not going to ask how to install TrueType fonts. I've been using Linux for about 3 years now, and I've got that figured out.

What I would like to know, however, is if anyone can tell me why after dropping a new batch of fonts into the appropriate directory and restarting xfstt, only SOME of them "appear"? I've tried adjusting the case of the filenames, but it doesn't appear to do anything. Thoughts?

I think you need to run ttmkfdir -o font.scale or something like that.

You may also find mkfontdir . useful -- but obviously not if you've tried it already.
