OK. In the previous post I told all about my problems getting Linux to boot from the end of my 30G drive. I can still only get to it with the boot floppy. The boot floppy has my only copy of LILO on it because the install routine refuses to put LILO on the boot partition. Now, I followed most of the advice I got, shelling out to a command console during the install, but after writing the lilo.conf file, it was renamed and a new one created sometime during my installation. I guess what I need to know now is, is there a way to put LILO on the boot partition manually, now that I have modified lilo.conf to (supposedly) work properly from the big drive? Hopefully something similar to DOS's SYS command that makes a drive bootable. Even though I put Linux in Boot Magic and pointed it to the right partition, it refuses to load Linux that way. The floppy? Takes a while, but it works. I believe that if I can get LILO onto the boot partition, it will work with Boot Magic. Can anyone help?

If the lilo.conf on your boot drive is set up correctly, just run "lilo" (without quotes of course) to write it to the drive.

Well, I did try running LILO and still got error messages. This is Red Hat 6.0, and I was only going to use it until I got used to it, then upgrade to the latest. This version complained that the cylinder number was too high and it just plain was NOT going to put LILO there. I got sick of it and moved two big partitions out of the way so that the boot partition for Linux started at 1077. The install program was just happy as hell about it, and now I have it up and running.
Thanks to all who tried to help.
