Which file format do you have to download iso files in binary or ascii (text) format?

For some reason I keep getting errors when I use md5sum to verify the iso files that I have downloaded. I'm not to sure if there is a specific format to download the iso files from any of the distros.

I am trying to upgrade my madrake8.1 to 9.0, but I keep getting errors while installing with the new iso files I've downloaded. I have downloaded 8.1 and didn't get much problems with the installation. Please let me know if there is a specific method in downloading these iso files without getting md5sum errors.

Thanks.

If you download the iso's via http (browser), then you don't have to worry about specifying binary as it is automatically done for you.

Using ftp, you will need to specify 'binary'.

Perhaps try another mirror site from the one you've been downloading from.

Howdy.

Binary. Also, even with high-speed connection, try a mirror site(s). After getting some really bad transfer rates at a couple of sites, I found the Mandrake ISOs at the University of Michigan's mirror site, and since it was down the road from me, well...

Too bad MDK didn't like my hardware, so I gave the disks to a friend. Since UofM doesn't have redhat, I had to wait quite a while for those to D/L.

Hope this helps...
