I've been using RH6.2 for about three months on a 400mhz eMachine. Ever since my first of several installs, I've been getting the following error periodically.

hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
hda: no DRQ after issuing WRITE
ide0: reset: success

It happens randomly, whether I'm on the machine or not, in a variety of environments.

Any thoughts? I'm stumped.

well this is caused buy one to two resons. you have DMA enabled and because IDE development in the kernel with DMA and other chipsets is not at the stage of stability that the PIIX chipsets are you can receive kernel read write errors,
or....
you flat out have a bad drive. i would ask yourself the question if you had windoze on the drive if it would randomly lockup, and mabie run diags if they are avalible from the HDD maker.
