i have this modem, it's been sitting around for a while... i have no idea what it is, other than 56k, and what conclusions i've come to:

on the back it says "MANUFACTURED FOR IBM BY U.S. ROBOTICS", so i'm guessing it's USRobotics, and it also says near the FCC# "SPORTSTER Model 0467"

This modem is ISA, and i don't think i even ever used it, but i'm looking for a linux compatible modem... can anyone help me?

Look for a serial modem, keep it normal http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif I mean simple modem nothing unique should work fine http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Oh yeah. It's linux compatible.

If it's internal just plug it in and run wvmdial and it should detect it.

If it's externel try to dial out on /dev/ttyS0 using kppp or whatever your using.

try and do a search on US Robotics web site for specs on that modem. If it has jumpers on it, I would say it is Linux compatable.

you know that site that has all the modems (not all, but tons) listed as winmodems and normal modems? i found my modem by the fcc number, and the model number, and even though it's isa, and a real old one, it's still a winmodem... at least that's what the site says...

and no, it doesn't have jumpers
