The topic says it all. Linux recognizes my card and everything. Pnp is turned off in my bios. when i try to set eth0 as my default protocol it says the device is busy. I can only ping myself. I'm using Mandrake Linux through Lnx4win and @home cable internet.

have u tried a ifdown?
'set eth0 as my default protocol' what does this mean?
I have dail-up dsl and i have to do a ifconfig eth0 0.0.0.0 up -arp before i can use it. um... does Linux4win work by running on top of windows? its possible that windows is using the eth card and thus linux cant use it.

If this is the case and you have a dynamic IP maybe going to winipcfg (I think that's right) and "releasing all" before you boot Linux would work. This way your NIC would not be in use. (worth a try)

well after some crap happening because of releasing all, i had to do some crap to re-establish my connection. No, linux doesnt run through windows, it simply tailors itself to the windows partition; it shuts down windows and boots linux when I do it(my GRUB start up deal dont work). I do ifdown lo and when i try to ifup eth0 it says the device or resource is busy. i can ping myself and everything....but i cant ifup or connect to the internet (duh). releasing all in winipcfg also screws it up in Linux.
