Remeber how at the end of every Doogie Howser M.D. episode he would sit at his computer and type a journal entry? Ever since that show I have wanted to find a journal or diary program that let you enter a new passage every day, and that archived your entries and kept up to date, so you could just start it, type your entry and it would do the rest... Is there a program like this? Thanks...:)

here's diary, I've tried it out and it's linux-ish, everything done via command line. i've noticed it doesn't create the directories for you so make 'em yourself $HOME/.diary/pages

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/diary/diary-0.1.tar.gz?download
and it's 6kb!!! only it's like vi ....

do a search in freshmeat 'journal' or 'diary' you'll probably find something to your tastes.

Thamks, Ive found a few just from searching. I was hoping for an official KDE type program, like KDiary or something... I actually have diary installed, but it lacks a few features I want, so Im gonna keep lookin...:)

How can you read your old entries? Every time I try it just gives me the "reference number"

It's kinda hard to use at first:
diary list - lists down your entries
diary grep foo - use grep for searching entries

there's more info at the man page ... I'm sure there's a commnad for viewing old entries

I was just reading an article about weblogging ("blogging") - basically an online journal. Didn't have any specific software, but maybe another way to go?
