hi, I'm getting my comp ready to install and have done alot of reading, checked out my hardware and it all seems good at the moment, except in the documentation it says I need to disable Plug & Play in my BIOS, so I thought fair enough and went into the Setup menu (running Win98SE, going to dual boot) and it's in there the problem lies, cos well basically I have no idea what it all means so I was hoping someone here could shed some light on what needs to be done, here's what it says in the PnP/PCI Configuration Menu:
Reset Configuration Data - Disabled
- (in the Item Help it says: Default is disabled. Select Enabled to reset Extended System Configuration Data (ESCD). When you exit Setup if you have installed a new add-on and the system reconfiguration has caused such a serious conflict that the OS cannot boot)
Resources Controlled By - Auto (ESCD)
(-Item Help: BIOS can automatically configure all the boot and plug & play devices. If you choose auto, you cannot select IRQ, DMA and memory base fields, since BIOS automatically assigns them.)
x IRQ Resources - Press Enter <-- that's grayed out
x Memory Resources - Press Enter <-- grayed out too
PCI/VGA Palette Snoop - Disabled
Assign IRQ for VGA - Disabled
Any help with this really really appreciated, thanks
