I find those links very vauge as far as instructions go.

About 2 weeks ago I found an installer released by ID software.

I had to recompile my kernel to get DRI as a module, screwed up and ended up reformatting and starting over.

Now I can not find that installer anywhere. Spent hours looking. All I can find is patches.

they're not patches, they are point releases.

You have not read the instructions on the idsoftware linux page

Installation instructions

Return to Castle Wolfenstein linux is using a graphical installer (based on Loki software's Setup Graphic Installer). This process is documented in the INSTALL file (this file is available when you run the setup). The .x86.run files are meant to be executed (you may need to make them executable with chmod +x file.x86.run).

http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/wolf/INSTALL

This setup will install the linux binaries for Wolfenstein Multiplayer in /usr/local/games/wolfenstein (or any other location you request). It WON'T INSTALL ALL THE FILES REQUIRED TO RUN WOLFENSTEIN MULTIPLAYER. You will need to manually copy a number of files to the /usr/local/games/wolfenstein/main directory.

From a win32 Wolfenstein installation, copy the following files to your /usr/local/games/wolfenstein/main directory:

63211149 Nov 13 22:14 mp_pak0.pk3
4449596 Nov 13 13:45 mp_pak1.pk3
1118 Nov 13 16:59 mp_pak2.pk3
315823656 Nov 13 12:50 pak0.pk3
293887431 Nov 12 17:20 sp_pak1.pk3
11026123 Nov 12 17:27 sp_pak2.pk3

If you don't have a windows installation to perform the extraction of the files, you can run the win32 setup from linux using WINE (http://www.winehq.com). Yes, we know it's a clumsy solution either way and we don't have an alternative yet.

I did read the instructions sir, spent many hours yesterday trying to get that pathetic Loki installer to work.

What I had the other day I didnt have to download and install no 3rd party installer to use. I wish I would have saved it!

The hardest part of the install is getting the .pk3 files...but that is what 'wine' is for :D

It's job is to install the point release, which it does perfectly
