Hi all!

Im trying to get samba working between my linux box and my win 98. I got PMFirewall installed on the linux. I've read that PMFirewall blocks Back Orifice, Netbus AND Samba attacks. Is this why i cannot connect?
And, How can I specifie an open port in PMFirewall to be open for the Windows to access the linux box? Like, i've followed step by step the configuration of smb.conf found on the web (O'reilley samba configuration or somethin like that) and i've had to add port 901 for swat in a configuration file somewhere (inetd.conf i think) So I would like to open port 901 in PMFirewall configuration but dont have a damn clue how doin it....

Im very new so please dont bash ;-)

Thanks much

You should probably let us know what distro of linux you are using, as certain config files are in different areas on different distros.

I have SuSE, and my firewall stuff is in /etc/rc.config.d Try looking in there, you might find a file to read which will refer to another file, which might refer to another file...follow the trail until you find what you need.

Good Luck... :)

Thanks for the reply. I found what was wrong and samba finally works fine. That O'reilly's tutorial was the best i've seen so far...
