I have been using Linux for about 4 weeks.
Started with a RedHat7 install. Set up easy and ran fine. No problems really except I found it difficult to get and install packages which is really attributable to my lack of experience.
Just for the heck of it I ordered a Libranet Debian CD. I installed it with few issues, although configuring my hardware was more of a challenge. The tech support at Libranet has
been great. I was able to get all issues resolved except my Lexmark 5770 printer. It is not supported and still not working in Linux.
After trying both distros, I have decided to stay with Debian. I have it running nicely
now and I expect that apt-get will be a dream compared to RPM.
I also ordered the Slackware package which I expect will be in by Friday. I intend to
install that on another partition and try it
out while still keeping Debian.
I am still using windows for a few things like gaming etc, but as little as possible.
Just my 2 cents.
By the way, the help here has been incredible. I am amazed at the speed with which you guys respond to my postings.
Based on what I see here, Linux will continue
to flourish.
Thanks for your help as always.
