I just got a Dell Inspiron 8000, and would like to put Linux for Windows on it, but during the installation process it locks up when trying to detect the PCMIA slots.
Can anyone help me with this?

What version/distro of linux? Also, do you have cards in the slots when it seizes? Are you doing a install via a pcmcia device?
