Okay, I've been looking at a few of the Linux certifications available to me, and to be quite honest, there is not much in the way of comparative descriptions for them.

What do you guys and gals think the top two certification programs are? Anyone out there that is certified care to share their experiences?.. has it helped with your career? Are employers really placing much emphasis on Linux certifications?

Well, I took part 1 of the level 1 LPI exams. It was pretty easy, actually - you had about 40 or 50 UNIX utilities (e.g. extract, cut, paste, sed, grep, etc), and you mostly had to demonstrate that you knew how to use them. Of course, that was exam 1 of level 1, but I thought it would be tougher.

On the downside, I took the exam in June and I still haven't gotten the results. Apparently, they started off hand-marking the results while they were still developing the exams, but now that everything has been finished, they're using machines to mark the exams. I talked to the LPI -- their staff were fairly nice -- and apparently my exam 'fell through the cracks', and it's being mailed now.
