Please help me getting my internet to work.

Hi, please i need help getting my dsl internet working with my 2.4 kernel.

Im now using redhat 7.1 with 2.4 kernel. I have installed the patch for 2.4 kernels. Installed rp-pppoe 3.2.
Here is what happen:
#adsl-start
.CONNECTED!
I tought I had it...But no. I do get an IP from Sympatico caus when i do ifconfig i can see eth1 up (eth1 is the ethernet card attached to the dsl modem) ppp0 with a 64.229.*.* IP (sympatico)and lo. Problem here is: I can't ping anything. The only thing I can ping is, supposed that the IP I get from sympatico is 64.229.239.17 i can ping 64.229.239.1 but thats all. I tryed:
#DEBUG=1 adsl-start
result:
***running in debug mode please wait
And it freeze there...nothing more. To make sure nothing happen, i let it this way all night to finally wake up in the morning and see that it was still freeze...

So, Im asking you guys, What the hell am I doing wrong...
It worked so fine with the old 2.2 kernel....Had no troubles at all gettin this puppy to work...If i wasn't clear enough, feel free to ask me more details.

stab in the dark, but did you put your primary DNS nameservers of you ISP in /etc/resolv.conf? That would explain why you could only ping your ISP. Good luck!
