Hi can anyone answer my first question on this forum? :) I'm getting different answers on whether or not the 3Com 3C905BTXP is compatible with Mandrake 8.0. Some say it works some say Mandrake has problems with 3com.

Also the product code on the internet reciept says its product code is NC-3C905BTXP-PCI I can't find the specs on this NIC anywhere. The closest model # i can find is the 3C905B-TX-NM shown here http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/detail.jsp?tab=features&sku=3C905B%2DTX%2DNM&pathtype=purchase , whats the difference? Heres a little bit of details on the nic i bought http://www.bayads.com/str1ab003/shop/SearchResults.asp?Prodstock=NC-3C905BTXP-PCI
Any help is appriciated.

hey

I've got a 905B under Linux and it works fine. I don't know why it wouldn't work under Mandrake, specifically, but it shouldn't be more than a kernel recompile at worst. You just need the 3c90x driver. I believe there is an NHF about how to set up NIC as well.

Actually, I believe it's the 3c59x module that you need.
