I have Mandrake 7.1, and tring to get on the Net. Problem is that the server that I am dialing to uses a 7E1 communication protocall. Linux defaults at 8bit. I am told that a 'mode' button is used to change this, but I have yet to find it. Everything that I look at is about UARTS and hex port settings.
I ask the Linux gods for help in this endevor.
Thanks in advance

Anything in the serial HOW-TO or have you tried 'man setserial'? You may find something there otherwise I have no idea how you would go about changing the default. Could be in one of the system config files.

I have looked into the man pages and viewed a number of HOW-TOs. The only thing that refers to this is in the kppp help when you are looking at the scripting commands. But I don't seem to have this option up front on my version.
Does anyone else have this option?
Thanks

The only place I found to set that was in minicom but it went back to default when I closed minicom. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif
I spent a lot of time but never found it. If you do, please post.
