MPEG Playback

I recently tried to view a few mpeg video files, and I cannot get any of the mpeg players to view them. (They worked when I first installed Mandrake9, but a week later they dont work.) XMovie says "MPEG file format not supported" In other players the player simply exits or hangs. Ive tried reinstalling XMovie and downloading and installing other video software but nothing works. Can anyone help me get my video playback back? Thanks!

Xine plays almost all file's ..

the xine program and the libraries u need to view win files and divx can be found here

for some legal reasons u need some additional files to view divx and so on , there are instructions on that site to use URPMI for installing xine.

i already have xine, and it won't view mpegs either. in the xine playlist when i click on an mpeg file it wont launch it, it views mp3 files just fine...
