I had 2.2 running fine. Rebooted and now backspace won't work. I don't use gdm to boot and that's the only fix I can find so far.

There must be any easy fix.

I'm running icewm with gnome and I can't type so it's giving me the ****s. It was working ok for weeks..using different window managers..why did it stop and how can I fix it ?

is it possibly your keyboard config? on 101 keys there is a backspace key that takes up two keys and on the 102, there's two keys there... perhaps you switchedto the 101 causing your BS key to not work... happened to me...

I'll keep messing with it..can't see how my k/b config would have changed.

The keypad now works without numlock in X...

Sounds like /etc/X11/X86config little problem
check in that file and maybe you will find what's wrong ?

xmodmap -e "keycode 22 = BackSpace"

Type that in an xterm for a part-fix. (tested and worked in xchat ...failed whilst typing here..damn
