Hey guys...I brought Red Hat 7.0 professional server version from their website and installed it on a machine that I built. It's working fine, but I have been anxious to upgrade my kernel to 2.4.0 (RH7 comes with 2.2.16-22). I have tried doing and upgrade the classical way...like always, but it didn't work...I consulted documentation...and it didn't work. A couple of days ago I called Red Hat Tech Support complaining of this, because they have stated that by registering I will "Receive an email when new versions are released. (Example - 2.4 kernel. Want to me bone of the first to hear when the 2.4 kernel is available?) It makes me want to say Red Cr@p when I see printed on the box "2.4 kernel ready". Red Hat responded to me saying that they are currently testing the kernel and are not through...???? They said it should be available by APRIL!!!!!!!
So today, like everyday, I came to linuxnewbie.org and see that there is a new NHF concerning the 2.4 kernel in Red Hat 7. My hopes just go flying...and i start reading....but .... the proceedure just doesn't look safe....i dunno...it just smells funny to me.
Let me know what you think
