Can anyone recommend some backup software?
I dont need anything fancy, I just need to set it up to backup a couple of folders each night.
Im using RH7.3, command line only and a HP surestore DAT 8.

Did you look in http://www.freshmeat.net and http://www.linuxapps.com?

I did look at freshmeat but i didnt know about the LinuxApps one, thanks.

But i was just wondering if there is one that is considered the best. The opinions of people that have used the software are so much more helpfull than a search on freshmeat that returns 180 results.

tar. dd (be careful with this!). split. It all depends what you want. Tar is great for tapes and large media, dd is great for mirroring hard disks, and split is great for taking a tar, splitting it up, and burning to CD.
