Hey everyone,
I just installed slackware linux 8.1 on my computer. Besides sound, the only problem that I am having is that nothing is up to date. Is there anyone that can give me a list of packages i need or point me to a site that has them? I know i definetly need the newest kernel as well as a bunch of other things.

Also, if there is something like up2date (RH) for slack, PLEASE let me know.

Thanks!

I've never used Slackware though if I did, I would certainly try their own documentation, support, admin guides or whatever they have available on their site.

Anything in your desktop menu's that relate to updating the distro/packages?

www.kernel.org for the latest 2.4 series kernel.

Slackware is pretty much a roll-your-own distro. There is some software that comes in slackpacks, but generally it's a matter of compiling your own. There's not apt-get upgrade or up2date type thing for slack.

Just look for updated versions of things you think should be updated, like OpenSSH has a new version. You can also check the slackware-current directory (i think the last update was 10/14), and see what they're going to put in slackware 9.
