I am totally new to linux, so this may be a silly question. I have a ASUS A7V MoBo and my hard disks are on the UDMA 100 Promise controller. This according to Suse linux is a known problem with version 7.0. They suggest a down load to create boot disk. Fine I can do that, but I am booting from CD1 of the set and that autoloads Yast2. How am I to get the boot disk to start the machine. Can I boot from the disk and then type a command at the prompt ? (I am presuming it will give me a prompt like DOS)
Looking forward to reply and also using linux !!

Just make the boot disk and boot from it, with CD in the drive. It should mess about a little and then hunt up your CDROM drive to do the rest. Shouldn't need any work on your part, aside from making the boot disk and booting from it.
