I've never used it but I believe it works just like Redhat except you have to force everything. xhadow 08-09-2001, 08:26 AM rpm.tgz (slakware/ap1/) [ Package | Description ] rpm-4.0.2 RPM is a tool from Red Hat Software used to install and remove packages in the .rpm format. When installing RPM packages on Slackware, you may need to use the --nodeps and --force options. Before installing any binary package, it's wise to examine it to see what it's going to do, and if it will overwrite any files. You can use rpm2tgz to convert .rpm packages to .tgz packages so you can look them over. thats from packages ap1 section in www.slackware.com (http://www.slackware.com) ronmon 08-09-2001, 08:58 AM You can use RPM with Slack, and yes it is even included. Ximian packages built for other distros will probably install things in all the wrong places though. If you do this, you are using the wrong tool for the job and probably should be running a different distro. Slackware's main strengths are it's standards compliance and configurability. RPMs will degrade both of those. justlinux.com
