I have a gateway with a SBlive card in it and digital speakers. I'm getting no sound. (Using Red Hat 8 by the way)

The sound card is seen correctly, but I can only get sound if I plug analog headphones into the line out jack.

Creative Labs homepage offered no help. Their latest driver does not enable digital speakers.

Has anyone had this same problem and resolved it?

Any help here would be nice. I could get some analog speakers, but my boston acoustics sound great and I'm not going to go behind my tower to switch off anyway. I need the sound more when in windoze because that is where I play my games.

I've been trying to do most of my graphic and office work in Linux, but that is when I want to listen to my cds/mp3z

Have you tried the SB Live drivers at http://opensource.creative.com ?

I seem to remember reading here at LNO that those drivers support digital speakers.

Thank you but their driver enables digital for a typical SBlive but the card that Lameway....I mean Gateway delivers uses a single jack for speakers, digital or analog with a software control to define the speakers (in windoze).

Their drivers do enable digital on a typical SBlive, which has a jack for analog and another for dig.

I guess I either have to buy a retail SBlive or I am just SOL.
