Putting it all together

Ive been reading the howtos and manuals and setting up this 166mmx on my
@home acct. I only have linux on the 166 and want to connect it up to my
733 winbox. I have two Aopen nics in the linux box and a 3com in the
winbox.

webmin show that eth0 and eth1 are both up and running and eth0 is working ok. But on shutdown the scirpt
displays and error saying it cant find eth1.

Basicly im trying to set the linux box up as a gateway / server for the
winbox dont know where to start. Could anyone suggest a course of action
on where to start. Like what do I need to have "specificly "running etc.

I know this is kind of a vauge question but with all the reading my head
is spinning.

Ok now that my head is a little less fuzzy, what I would like to know is which Mods I will need to have installed. I already understand how to set up the internal nics in the linux box and the winbox but as yet ive been unable to get a signal through to the winbox.

Will I be using IPchains, IPmasking or both. Im a little confused on what I need to have installed to do this.

Im using Caldera 2.4e on the 166. Ive set the internal nic with its own IP and used the instruction here: http://www.calderasystems.com/SxS/stepbystep.htm
under networking - home network.

yet still dont get a signal. So the question is what mods need to be installed to accomplish this.
