Hello everybody.
I've been using Red Hat linux 6.0 for a month, but now planning to move to 7.0. But I see that there are so many packages like Debian, Slackware, Mandrake etc. I have a good connection here and can download iso files from ftp servers( taht's not a problem for me).
So, what do you, guru-guys, say? Which one should I start with ?
Thanks in advance.

You're going to get alot of mixed responses... Everyone will answer with the distrobution they like to use. Personally, I'd suggest a Debian based distrobution (like storm maybe), because things are just that much easier with apt-get.

I see, but what is the difference? Why do you like slack so much ?

I would go with Slack or Mandrake.. I still dont trust package management with APT which seems to be debians main feature.. Mandrake doesnt require a kernel recompile or anything to get my usb mouse and wheel working so I am a happy man for my gaming system

Thanks for replies !
You guys tell me why you like them. But I want a suggestion. And, yeah, I remembered that I have a RedHat 6.0 book. Do you suggest to move to others or stay with RedHat ?
Are there big differenceses between all those releases and different packages?

OK, I got it ! Nice joke:do you really think win is unstable ?
For ex. I'm planning to use Linux for web (I mean server and etc.)not for games.
I still prefer w2k server for desktop.
What do you think ?
Hey, we've got a great discussion here http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

rundll32... You know you caused a illegal operation on a Win95 PC at work that I was trying to create a Dial-up-Networking account on for user testing today. Couldn't get it to work and rebuilt the PC with Win98.
Good choice of names.
