I have sound. My cd rom appears not to be mounted yet gnome cd player will read it and play it without sound. All the levels are up, as well. What is up?

Do as buttercrunch suggested as Linux requires you have a audio cable between the cdrom and soundcard to be able to listen to audio cd's. justlinux.com
