hey!
i have mandrake 9.0.. and i want to watch Avi files/divx movies.. but i need ffmpeg.. so i downloaded that to find out that i need libavi.. downloaded that to find out that i need libmad.. I cannot find that at all anywhere and was wondering where i can find it for mandrake9.0
all i want to do is watch avi files and i need all this!

ah welcome to the wonderful world of rpm dependencies. you could try using urpmi.

other avi/divx players you can use are mplayer and xine.

yea i finally managed to install those files.. i have xine... but when ever i play a avi.. its just a blue screen.. i have the win32 codecs as well divx installed and those files installed but maybe i need to get better drivers for my nvidia card. Hopefully thats the problem

did you place the win32codecs in /usr/lib/win32?

that is where xine looks for them.

you can try running xine from a terminal and that should tell you what is happening
