RH6.2 through a kvm switchand an S3Virge/gx, getting bad video.

I have red hat 6.2 on a system going through a linksys pro connect KVM switch. When linux starts in gnome my video has a line down the left hand side and the cursor has a big square block around it. When I scroll the whole screen smears and does not refresh until you start clicking on things blindly then the object clicked on appears until you scroll again.
Any ideas? The system is an NEC 200mhz.

I remember having these kinds of troubles the first time my brother got a kvm switch... Apparently it was just a poort quality switch. When he got a new switch (more expensive), everything worked fine.
It would really stink to just have a no-so-great switch wouldn't it? So, I hope someone replies with a more optimistic answer.

It's the poor quality cables and not the switch. Same problem at the office.
