Hello.

I've just gotten hold of the latest Mandrake (7.2) and installed it. I need some input from people in regard to what appears to be the same situation I found in mandrake 6.1. 6.1 was crap, but 7.2 has been rather surprising. Very slick. However...

1.) Mandrake appears to install multiple of everything (wtf do I need four package managers for, let alone 10 text editors).

2.) Mandrake also appears to install a base kde-menu set, regardless of wether the programs that the menu items point to are actually installed. That one would no doubt confude those who are very new.

Am I seeing things, or is that really the case (both points).

I'm seriously considering going through the 1000 odd packages by hand...

Hmm, Slackware next week (waiting for GPL CD's), can't wait.

I went through EACH and EVERY one of the packages before installing... i got a minimal install (size) with the same functionality as the full... there are 6 ICQ clients, plus other IM's that i don't use... i only use LICQ, but hey... someone might need them all... you never know

Is there anything wrong with Aurora? I have it on my drake distro, and I haven't noticed any problems. Is there something I'm missing? Just curious.
