very new newbie , monitor problems

Hi, everybody,
I just installed Red Hat 7, and now I'm trying to get X set up. Apparently, it doesn't know how to deal with my monitor. My monitor (Gateway, Vivitron15) is not in the list in Xconfigurator, and I can't figure out the custom settings--the vertical refresh rate and horizontal sync rate, whatever those are. The guidebook I'm using says all the info should be in my monitor manual, but if it's there, I can't find it. I tried guessing at the settings, but I couldn't find any that worked.

Mine's made by Future Power (stupid little thing), and a generic setting worked for me.

Don't know if you got this worked out yet or not, but I have a Gateway Vivitron 1776, and found the 8514 setting seems to work well with it. I used Linux Mandrake 7.1 I received on a CD with Maximum Linux magazine (over a year ago!) Dave

The url that rod (rod? what's he doing back?) posted should help. If not, then just do the normal web searches or try the manufacturers website and you'll find all the specs you need.
