Greetings all,
I've been running Red Hat for about 2 years now and I feel it is time for a change. I've got an Intel box that I want to dual-boot between a Linux distro and NT 4.0 . I've also got a SPARC station 5 that I want to put Linux on. I've heard great things about Slackware and Debian, so I want to run both. The only question is which flavor on which architecture :)
The Intel machine is my main puter...the one I beat on with my own code and experiment with Linux on. The SPARC I mainly want to set up as an FTP & SSH server. Both Debian & Slackware support SPARC, but it seems that Slackware SPARC is currently not under development.
What's your advice? What are your takes on Slack and Debian? Anyone had experience with either of these distros on SPARC machines?
I'm mostly concerned with which distro I put on my Intel box. I'm tired of stuff not working well under Red Hat and, as many of us are, I'm searching for that one true Linux distrubution that satisfies my every development & Linux need. I'm attracted to Slackware's philosophy of simplicity and to Debian's commitment to free software. What should I do?!?
Thanks in advance to all who reply
